Lilium nepalense

Lilium nepalense

A stunning, almost mysterious lily in its appearence, with its humongous scented flowers. Grows in nepal and india, in the mountains, where its stems wander around underground for quite a while before emerging (stoloniferous). If grown in a pot, the stems will often zigzag around the pot a few times before deciding to start growing upright! Erupts late in the season, at the end of may, but then grows very quickly, and flowers in june-august.

The purple brownish bulbs dont look like much in their dormant state, but believe me, as soon as they are planted, they spring into growth quite quickly once rooted and settled in.
